Brett Peppler
Brett Peppler is the Managing Director of Intelligent Futures
Pty Ltd, a Canberra-based consultancy specialising in scenario-based
strategic planning. Brett has over 23 years experience in the strategic
planning field, including appointments and professional development
opportunities in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Germany,
New Zealand and Singapore. Brett has extensive experience as a manager,
analyst, trainer, educator and futurist, including personal responsibility
for coordinating corporate analytical programs, and the technical
direction of analytical teams.
Brett has conducted a variety of futures studies projects, especially
in the public sector at both the Commonwealth and State levels (including
AFFA, APSC, Attorney-Generals, ATO, AUSTRAC, Customs, Defence, FACS,
and Main Roads, NZ Treasury and Transport). Brett has worked extensively
in academe, where he currently teaches as a visiting lecturer at
three Australian universities. Also, he has contributed to the futures
studies discipline to promote best practice through teaching, and
conference papers.
Prior to establishing his own company, Brett was in the military
intelligence field from 1978 until 1994. His final appointment with
the Department of Defence was as the Deputy-Director of Military
Intelligence (Army) where he directed military intelligence capability
development. From 1994 until 1998, Brett produced future assessments
for the development of strategic law enforcement policy within the
Attorney-General's Department, where he specialised in financial
crime. After 1998, Brett held an Associate Professorship at Charles
Sturt University, where he led the Intelligence Education Program
within the faculty of Arts.
Currently, Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations),
a Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, a Graduate Diploma in
Information Management and Analysis, a Diploma in Intelligence Research
and Analysis, and a Diploma in Personnel and Resource Management.
He is a Rotarian, a member of the Australian Institute of Professional
Intelligence Officers (AIPIO), and the Australian Public Sector
Futures Forum.
