Anne has extensive experience in Blood Transfusion, in clinical laboratories, in research, in commercialisation and in management. She spent 8 years in research at the University of Sydney and 18 years at the Australian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (NSW Division) which was reconstituted nationally in 1996 as the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. Anne also spent two periods of study leave with Bristol Institute of Transfusion Science - one of the foremost research laboratories in the world in this field. She has successfully commercialised several research outcomes.

For 10 years Anne headed a research laboratory at the Blood Transfusion Service. In recent years she has held senior positions at the nationalised ARCBS, an organisation with an annual turnover of approximately $180 million. Anne had responsibility for Business Development, R&D Management, Facilities Review and Planning, Implementation of Nucleic Acid Testing, Knowledge Management, Haemovigilance, Risk Management, Ethics amongst other areas.

In addition Anne has held office in the Australasian Society of Blood Transfusion serving 4 years on the Council, two as President. During this time she was co-convenor of the Joint Annual Scientific Meeting held in conjunction with HSA in Sydney in 1997 - the most financially successful joint Australian meeting of the two societies at the time. Under her leadership the Society developed its first ever Strategic Plan. The Society also established a Research Fund to support Australian and New Zealand research endeavours in the field of Blood Transfusion.

  • Member Steering Committee of the CRC for Vaccine Technology Mark 2 (1998- 1999) responsible for preparation of submission for Round 2 funding

  • Mentor Women in Business (NSW Dept State and Regional Development) 2003
