Kees was until recently aprofessor of general and strategic management at the Graduate Business School of Strathclyde University, Glasgow, the author of Scenarios: The Art of Strategic Conversation, and a GBN cofounder. His practice focuses on the emergence of institutional strategic thinking and learning.

Prior to '91, he headed the business environment division of Group Planning at Royal Dutch/Shell, London where he oversaw scenario planning. This included monitoring and analyzing the business environment and communicating with top management on strategic implications.

Previously, he headed Shell's internal strategic consultancy group, assisting management teams in strategy development and implementation. Kees joined Shell in the Hague in 1957 and spent many years abroad in operating companies in Manila, Singapore, and Curacão, mostly in activities concerned with commercial planning, economics, and corporate planning and strategy.

His past and current positions include: General and strategic management professor, the Graduate Business School, Strathclyde University, Glasgow; Visiting professor, Nyenrode University, Breukelen, Holland; and Head of the business environment, Group Planning, Royal Dutch/Shell, London.

He is author of 'Scenarios, the Art of Strategic Conversation' and numerous articles on scenario planning such as 'Probabilistic Planning and Scenario Planning' and 'Scenario Planning, Scaffolding Disorganized Ideas About the Future'.
